Course name: Practical Photography Workshop “Havana of my dreams”

Objective: Master the basic knowledge for camera management, composition of a photograph, use of lighting appropriately and digital development.

Contents: The photographic shot. This theme addresses the management of your camera, the fundamental aspects of Photographic Composition and Enlightenment.

• The tripod. Use of filters.
• Landscape. The norms for work in urban landscape photography.
The edition of the image. The digital development of photographs in
• Lightroom. Taking into account the special treatment of the landscape and the type of photo you want to do.

Visas

We will provide U.S. Citizens with a Cuban visa and the required OFAC People-to-People documents. International travelers who require a Cuban visa can get their visa through the Cuban Embassy or Consulate in their respective countries.

Description

This course is designed to maximize your creativity using as a motive the magical realism of the city of Havana.

You will understand the handling of the camera, the filters and the tripod to obtain a photo of great focal depth with an attractive composition. We will photograph spaces of Havana emphasizing the details and solving all type of doubts of theory and handling of the equipment. It will be an open course and subject to possible improvisation, moldable to the wishes of the participants.

We will project some of the students’ photographs to understand the development in the moment. We will photograph some of the most beautiful landscapes you have ever dreamed of doing and we will have fun among friends.

CUBA 7 DAYS

DAY 1: Monday, July 3, 2017 – HAVANA, CUBA

Arrive at Jose Marti International Airport, Havana, Cuba.
Hola Bienvenido a Cuba! After clearing customs and getting luggage we begin our travel. On the way, will make a quick stop in La Plaza de la Revolucion (The Plaza of the Revolution) the most significant plaza in all of Cuba. Next to the plaza you will see the impressive memorial to the father of the Cuban Republic, the beloved hero Jose Marti.

This afternoon will visit the school “Escuela de Fotografía Creativa de la Habana” efch for orientation. Small bites will be offered.

Speaker: Director of “Escuela de Fotografía Creativa de la Habana” efch.

Following orientation, will check into “Casa Particulares” private residence to get ready for evening activities.

Dinner: Divino Paladar

Following dinner, a casual walk around Central Park (Parque Central) in Old Havana for some music and site seeing. We will stroll past the Capital Building (Capitolio), the National Museum of Beautiful Arts (Museo Nacional de las Bellas Artes) and the Grand Theater (Gran Teatro). In the evenings, these architectural beauties are powerful and elegant with dramatic lighting effects.

DAY 2: Tuesday, July 4, 2017 – HAVANA, CUBA – Happy Independence Day!

8:00am – Breakfast to order in your homes, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the Cuban people and share in their lives.

Following breakfast, will make our way to the School – First day of Class “ Clase 1” class duration 3hrs + hours photo-safari

Lunch: will be provided between clases.

After class, will return to casa particulares to get ready for evening activities.

La Bodegita del Medio

Following dinner, will walk through Havana’s Old City a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander through the Plaza Vieja, the oldest plaza in Havana, dating from the 16th century. See the Plaza de San Francisco, a cobbled plaza surrounded by buildings dating from the 18th century, dominated by the baroque Iglesia and Convento de San Francisco dating from 1719. Visit Plaza de la Cathedral and the Cathedral de San Cristóbal de La Habana. Visit the Plaza de Armas, a scenic tree-lined plaza formerly at the center of influence in Cuba. It is surrounded by many of the most historic structures in Havana as well as important monuments. We will end our ride at “El Floridita”, made famous by Ernest Hemingway. This venue is arguably the birthplace of the Daiquiri, the rum-based drink the author favored.

DAY 3: Wednesday, July 5, 2017 – HAVANA, CUBA

8:00am – Breakfast to order in your homes.

Following breakfast, will make our way to the School – Second day of class “ Clase 2” class duration 3hrs + hours photo-safari

Lunch: will be provided between clases.

After class, will return to casa particulares to get ready for evening activities.

Dinner: El Ajiaco Paladar

Following dinner you will depart to El Morro Castle around 8:30pm for the 9 O’Clock Cannon Firing Ceremony. This was a tradition from colonial times signaling the closing of the city gates for the night.

DAY 4: Thursday, July 6, 2017 – HAVANA, CUBA

8:00am – Breakfast to order in your homes.

Following breakfast, will make our way to the School – Third day of class “ Clase 3” class duration 3hrs + hours photo-safari

Lunch: will be provided between clases.

After class, will return to casa particulares to get ready for evening activities.

Dinner: La torre with terrific sunset show

Following dinner, will visit “El Hotel Nacional de Cuba”, the amazing setting will bring many back to the 1950s, later end at Paricien Cabaret.

DAY 5: Friday, July 7, 2017 – HAVANA, CUBA

8:00am – Breakfast to order in your homes.

Following breakfast, will make our way to the School – Day 4 of class “ Clase 4” class duration 3hrs + hours photo-safari

Lunch: will be provided between clases.

After class, will return to casa particulares to get ready for evening activities.

Dinner: El Cocinero Paladar.

Following dinner will walk next door for live music, art and photography at La Fabrica de Arte Cubana. Rock star X Alfonso has turned this into a meeting place for young and eclectic Cubans and foreigners.

DAY 6: Saturday, July 8, 2017 – HAVANA, CUBA

8:00am – Breakfast to order in your homes.

Following breakfast, will make our way to the School – Day 5 of class “ Clase 4” class duration 3hrs + hours photo-safari

Lunch: will be provided between clases.

After class, will return to casa particulares to get ready for evening activities and the exhibitions (class project)

Tonight you will share laughs and memories as you celebrate your time shared together in Cuba with a farewell dinner. For dinner you will enjoy a delicious feast of local delicacies and be treated to some special entertainment unique to Cuba (TBD)

9:00pm – Farewell celebration at Fabrica del Arte.

DAY 7: Sunday, July 9, 2017 – HAVANA, CUBA

9:00am – Breakfast.

This morning we will visit Mercado San Jose for some shopping.

12:00pm Lunch at La Cervezeria

2:00pm – Departure to Airport for your flight

*** Cocktails in excess of those provided in the package are the responsibility of the travelers.
Travel authorized by license through the Department of Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) that authorizes registered guests of our programs to legally travel to Cuba to participate and engage in a full time schedule of authorized exchange activities in Cuba, which will involve meaningful interaction between travelers and people in Cuba.

DEPOSIT

A deposit of $700 per person is required to guarantee your reservation, which will be applied towards the cost of your tour. Deposits are generally non-refundable, except in rare cases when we cannot confirm all components of a booking at the purchase price.

FINAL PAYMENT

Any pending balance must be paid in full at least 90 days prior to departure. If your booking falls within the 90 days, payment in full is expected at the time of booking.
